Engineering Data Management (EDM) is an agile, web-based, and database-driven application developed for various types of chemical plants. Its primary objective is to improve data standardization, provide easy access to the latest documentation, enhance the efficiency of engineering project development and execution, and facilitate compliance with safety regulations and testing protocols. The functionalities of EDM have been based on 25 years of experience in engineering projects and IT, and it has been in development for over a decade by Polaris Engineering.

Step 1: Problem Analysis

EDM comprises multiple interconnected modules, each of which provides an agile solution for a specific issue, action, and/or discipline required for running a plant. To tailor EDM to the specific conditions and requirements of a plant, an inventory will be created. This inventory will consist of an initial requirement analysis, applicable databases, the data they contain, the current state of that data, and the functional requirements related to the issue(s) expected from EDM, based on input from the customer.

Step 2: Analysis Report and Advice

An analysis report will be created based on the requirements outlined in the inventory. The report will include an overview of the databases the customer expects to be available through EDM, the actions required to achieve this, advice on which modules of EDM to use, the functional requirements of those modules, a proposal on how to use EDM to resolve the issues, and the system requirements necessary for successful implementation.
